Spring Break at Mt. Washington

It feels like spring break at Mt. Washington. There’s fifteen feet of snow here and it has been full on winter almost every day before we showed up, but it has been bluebird and warm the past week for training. We nailed a perfect week. Training is going great. It’s beautiful here. I’m getting my boards dialed and working on a few technical reminders to make sure I’m ready. It’s supposed to rain next weekend at Cypress. I’m not sure what the snow conditions will be like, but I’ll be ready for whatever. I’m training with the US Team as well as the Swiss, Germans and Swedes. It’s great scene.
Yesterday I went down to Comox with Rob, Fred and Michelle to walk on the beach at Goose Spit. We walked down to Kye bay to check it out. It’s pretty cool snowboarding in the morning and walking on the beach in the afternoon. On the way home we stopped by Portuguese Joe’s to pick up some fresh fish. Just when we showed up they were throwing some fish guts on the bank. We suddenly got swarmed by eagles. There must have been twenty eagles flying overhead. I got some great photos. Isn’t that good luck for fast racing ahead? I’m training again tomorrow, then heading back to Vancouver for a day off and then some training and Cypress next week before our Parallel Giant Slalom Olympic Race Feb. 27th. I’ll be ready to go for it. I didn’t come here to lay up!
