To The Edge And Back

Enjoy the Ride, Don't Take A Turn For Granted

MY HOMETOWN OF ASPEN, COLORADO

aspen mountain powder dayI am proud to call Aspen my home. I live in one of the most beautiful mountain communities in the world. I share this place with other hard-core, outdoor enthusiasts who share a common respect for the mountains.

To me Aspen means epic, un-crowded snowboarding, always with that hidden stash and four mountains to look for it. Aspen is Highlands bowl, Burnt Mountain, a Freed Ajax, a packed winter events calendar, world class terrain parks and pipes, perfect corduroy cruisers, and plenty of friends who rip.
It’s endless miles of cross country skiing, trying to keep up with my friends on snowshoes training for Summit for Life, a cherished trip on the backside, legendary Fabrocini workouts at the Aspen Club & Spa, Winterskol, World Cup Racing, 14’ers in the spring and riding Independence Pass.

aspen independence passIn the summer we’re talking grueling up-hill climbs and insane downhill single-track, volleyball at Koch, skating the Rio Grand Park, cheering on the Gentlemen and trying to figure out the Rugby rules, scaring fish to death as I flail with my fly rod on the Pan and Fork, non-stop live music at the Music tent and Jazz Fest, family picnics at Maroon and Independence, and lunch at Marcos with the boyz.

Aspenites in my mind are people who care about the environment and put quality of life and the freedom to escape at the top. I have never seen a town of 5,000 locals with so much culture and activities and Aspenites take it all in. They support their local athletes and take a great interest in competition. I hope visitors to our town enjoy the mountains, shopping, restaurants, and great hotels (especially Aspen Square, my favorite), but stop for a minute to meet some of the greatest folks in the world, Aspen’s down-to-earth locals, and check out the true mountain culture! Enjoy!
