Katie Ride for Life

I was in Jacksonville, Florida on Sunday in support of the inaugural Katie Ride for Life. The cycling event was put together by my friend David Caples and his family in honor of their daughter Katie who was a donor. I participated in the one hundred kilometer bike ride from Ponte Vedra to St. Augustine. I’ve been doing a ton of riding on my snowboard, but not much on my bike, so my butt was ruined. I guess there’s no substitute for time in the saddle. I loved the ride. I teamed up with three local riders: Dave, Rob and Tim. They pretty much towed me home. The headwind back from St. Augustine was brutal. It felt great to enjoy some sun and be in shorts again, even though I was the whitest dude in FL. The highlight for me was getting to see two gators on the route. There was over one hundred and fifty riders present, a huge success in the first year. I can see the Katie Ride growing into a major event in the future. I look forward to hopefully returning next year, definitely with a few more training rides under my belt next time.I’m off to Detroit tomorrow for a speech. I’m training and playing hard in Aspen the next few weeks. Planning to test my Gold Medal Boards on-snow first week of May, before heading to Bali for a few weeks of surf. Enjoy the pics. Thanks for stoppin’ by. Have a great spring!CKTeam Katie Ride 2005
