World Cup Opener in Landgraaf, Holland

I’ve had a great week of training in Germany with my teammates preparing for the Snowboard World Cup Opener this Friday indoors at SnowWorld in Landgraaf, Netherlands. Last week we got ready in Botrop, Germany outside Dusseldorf at Alpine Center Botrop. It was like training in a mineshaft. They had a ropes course there we did one afternoon that was a great workout and a lot of fun. Our traditional opening World Cup the past five years has been a twenty plus gate slalom sprint indoors. I prefer to be outdoors in the mountains and fresh air, but once a season it’s funny.
My new boards are dialed and I’m feeling fast, ready for a great start to the season. I begin my seventeenth season on the World Cup Circuit healthy and fired up for a fun winter ahead. I really enjoy the training process and competing still and that’s why I’m back. My summer training has me feeling strong and confident going into the season. I’ve enjoyed seeing many friends from the circuit the past days and catching up after the summer break. It really is a cool community of people passionate about what they’re doing. I’m proud to be a part of it. Everyone is excited to kick off the season. I will take a few training runs tomorrow and be ready to race on Friday. I’ll keep you posted from Landgraaf. Enjoy the pics. I included one from my visit to Madison, Wisconsin where I spoke last week and went to the U of W football game.
