To The Edge And Back

Enjoy the Ride, Don't Take A Turn For Granted

Two Podiums at Mt. Bachelor

Posted by admin on February 6, 2010 11:34 am / 0 Comments

I just returned home to Aspen this eve from a week of training and racing in Central Oregon at Mt. Bachelor. It was super fun to be back in Central Oregon in the winter. It was nostalgic riding Mt. Bachelor again. I have so many fun memories of growing up riding there. I had two podium finishes this week. I placed 2nd in Thursday’s NorAm Race to the Cup PGS and 3rd yesterday in the Giant Slalom race. I’m bummed I didn’t get a win, but I guess I’m saving it for the big one. I learned a few more good lessons that will benefit me in Vancouver. You’d have thought I’d learned ‘em all by now, but still improving after twenty-seven years riding. The racing conditions were challenging with soft, bumpy courses, strong winds and difficult visibility. That’s what we went for. Hopefully it will toughen us up for Vancouver. The race hill at Mt. Bachelor is very similar to the Olympic venue in Cypress. Who knows what kind of snow we will see in Vancouver; it’s kind of out of my hands, but I’ll be ready for whatever. I trained hard all week, taking ten runs in a course each day at Mt. Bachelor, still building for Vancovuer. I’m excited to be home in Aspen this weekend recovering and enjoying the Super Bowl tomorrow. I will be training this week with my AST coaches Rob and Ian at Aspen Highlands. After this week I will start tapering for the Olympics. Monday eve Aspen is hosting an Olympic Send-off for all local 2010 Olympians. Aspen is sending seven local Olympians to Vancouver. Aspen will be well represented. I travel to Vancouver next week and will participate in the Opening Ceremonies Friday night. Thanks for all your help and support getting there. I’m excited to go for it. I’m in a good position to do well and that’s all I can ask. Below are a few photos from training and racing the past week in Oregon. Enjoy! Talk to you soon,
