Going to Vancouver!

Book your tickets – we’re going to Vancouver! I knew we could do it! I’m really happy. The announcement by US Snowboarding was official this evening. I strengthened my position with an eighth place finish yesterday at the Stoneham, Quebec FIS World Cup PGS. It was a fun, but challenging race yesterday. The weather couldn’t have been nicer. After twenty years of racing in Quebec in freezing temps I was grateful for the warm weather. The hill was steep and rock hard. It’s a difficult hill, not my best, but I enjoyed riding it. I had an interesting drive to Burlington, VT this morning with Zac and Ian in freezing rain.
It was a tough Olympic qualification process the past two months, one I believe that prepared me and my Olympic teammates well for Vancouver. I’m sad that my AST Teammates Zac, Josh and Erica won’t be racing with me in Vancouver, but I believe my qualification is a victory for our independent AST team. I’m very proud of what we created together. It worked! I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of Ian, Rob and my AST Teammates. Thanks to Hooters, BCF, Dominator, Aspen/Snowmass and Shred Alert for helping us get there. I will be riding with the strength of our whole team in Vancouver and forever be proud of our America’s Snowboard Team and what we’ve accomplished together.
I returned home to Aspen this evening. I’m excited to relax for a few days and enjoy making the team. CKF is hosting a donor awareness booth at Winter X Games 14 this weekend at Buttermilk Mountain. I am very excited to officially be a part of the X Games activities. I am planning to travel to Oregon next week for training and racing at Mt. Bachelor in preparation for Vancouver. The race hill at Mt. Bachelor is very similar to the Cypress Olympic hill and will be great training. It will be fun being back in Central Oregon in the winter. Thank you for all your support and help getting to Vancouver. Thank you for believing in me. As an almost ten year liver transplant recipient I’m proud to help represent the transplant community in Vancouver and share the donor awareness message loud and clear. It’s going to be fun. Talk to you soon,
CK
