To The Edge And Back

Enjoy the Ride, Don't Take A Turn For Granted

Two National’s Podiums

Posted by admin on March 24, 2008 12:45 pm / 0 Comments

I finished the competitive snowboarding season this weekend at NorAm Finals/US Nationals at Mt. Hood Meadows, Oregon with two podiums. As a result of my performance this weekend I won the North American Overall title. In Saturday’s PGS competition I had a 1.34 second advantage going into the final run for the win, but ran too aggressive a line in the middle of the course and got caught in the soft slush on a heelside turn and fell, finishing second. I was back in the semifinals Sunday in the slalom against a strong field of riders and made a similar mistake after a fast first run. I was proud that I bounced back strong in the PSL small final to claim third. Both days I was a half run from possibly winning. I was disappointed not to win after being so close both days. It’s always nice to be on the podium though and two podiums is a great way to wrap up the competitive season. It was my fifth podium finish of the season. I was stoked for my teammate Zac Kay who rode fast and solid both days to victory. Congrats Zac!

It’s always special for me to be back in Oregon racing my snowboard. I learned to snowboard on Mt. Bachelor twenty-five years ago and have lots of great memories riding in Northwest Series Events growing up. My family and many friends from Central Oregon drove over to cheer me on this weekend. It was fun to end the racing season on the podum in front of family and friends. Thanks for cheering me on!

I return home to Aspen tomorrow to prepare for our 8th Annual Aspen Klug Spring Snowboard Camp Mar. 28-30. I’m going to hang out in Aspen this spring filming and photo shooting and doing a lot of climbing and riding. I’m looking forward to taking a break from racing and traveling to have some time to relax and heel my body at home in Aspen after a long winter on the road. Thank you for all of your support this winter. I plan to work hard this spring and summer and be back stronger than ever next season. Talk to you soon,
