Tons of Snow in Japan!

I arrived in Japan tonight after a mega journey. Tons of snow here. The snow walls bordering the road driving in where ten feet high. It’s full-on winter wonderland here. This place gets more snow then anywhere I’ve seen! Every year it looks like this. They haven’t heard about global warming yet? We’re at Furano Resort three hours outside Sapporo. My luggage got lost again en route. Bad luck with my bags the past weeks. Hopefully they’ll catch up soon. I’m going to relax and recover from the long trip tomorrow, hopefully finding the Japanese baths.Seventeenth in Lake Placid, not my best finish of the season. I missed advancing to the finals by two hundredths of a second. It seems consistent with my up and down season. I’ve missed the finals three times this winter by less than five hundredths of a second. Damn! I believe once you’re in the top sixteen knockout final anything can happen! I’m riding good and feeling confident, just not getting it done yet. Sometimes you ride fast and can’t explain why, it just comes easy, other times it’s more of a struggle. I know it’s there, just not getting the breaks yet. Sometimes you have to be patient, not lose your focus or confidence and wait your turn. Although it has been a frustrating competitive season at times, I’m turning it around the next two weekends with World Cup Finals and Nationals ahead. I still love being in the start gate and racing. I’m not done yet! I always ride fast in Japan and am motivated to finish strong.I spent the weekend at home in Aspen with my friends and family taking in some comedy acts with the HBO Comedy Fest in town, and riding some pow. Nothing like coming home to a foot of fresh pow at Snowmass and a few good laughs. Wishing I had my freestyle board to ride Furano tomorrow. Pleanty of pow here. Thanks for checking in. I’ll keep ya posted from Japan. Sayonara,CK
