Sudelfeld, Germany PGS Saturday

I enjoyed a few days off after Korea with my teammates Zac and Adam in Sud Tirol, Italy. We stayed with our Italian friend from the snowboard circuit, Rolland Fischnaller. He lives in Val di Funes, Italy near Bolzano, one of my favorite areas in Europe. I took the time to repair my back after crashing in training in Korea and take a break, so I would be ready for our World Cup PGS race this weekend in Sudelfeld, Germany. I trained on the race hill this morning in Sudelfeld, Germany and am feeling way better. My back is not perfect, but ready to ride fast again. While in Italy I did some cross-country skiing, swimming, and sauna “Auguss’ing.” The mountains are impressive there. I was wishing I had my split board and backcountry gear. There are so many cool lines I would have liked to explore. I’ll just have to return someday soon.
While in Italy, my teammates and I took a trip to Venice for a night to check it out. What an awesome place. I’ve been there a few times, but it has been a while. We toured the city on foot and stayed in a killer hotel just off Piazza San Marco. I loved exploring the city. We rocked suits one night and went out on the town in style. I’m amazed at the proximity to the water and the daily flooding as a result of the tidal fluctuation and rainfall. San Marco Church is something to see. It’s hard to comprehend.I’m feeling recharged after a fun Italian adventure, and ready to race this weekend. I race on Saturday and then return home to Aspen for two weeks before heading to Vancouver for a race on the 2010 Olympic venue. I’ll let you know how it goes this weekend. Thanks for checking in!
