Olang, Italy FIS World Cup 2006

I was off to a good start yesterday in the FIS World Cup in Kreishberg, Austria. I charged the course and had a solid top half, but flew out mid way down and ended my day prematurely. I’m bummed. I should have nailed it yesterday, but it wasn’t my day. It wasn’t for lack of training or preparation, just bad luck in my mind. We’re still in good shape as far as Torino. With my 16th from Quebec and my 15th from Kreishberg I’ve got the two top World Cup results. I belive I’m in. We’ll know for sure this week. I’ll keep ya posted. I’m confident the selection committee will confirm my slot soon. I’m proven at the Olympics (‘98 6th, ‘02 Bronze) and on the race hill in Bardonecchia, Italy. I believe I deserve to go. We’ll see what happens.Whatever happens I’ve got no regrets. I gave it my all, I rode with heart and did my best and that’s all you can ask. I could have used a lucky break here or there, but that’s racing sometimes. Since healing from breaking my color bone last January at X-Games, I haven’t slowed down or focused on much other than getting back to my 3rd Olympics and winning Gold. I stuck around another four years after Salt Lake City, because I loved the race hill in Bardonecchia and knew I could win on it. I still believe that’s true. I hope I get the chance to do it. In the grand scheme of things if I make it or not this is small after what I’ve been through, I’m lucky to be alive and even riding my board and I’m grateful for having the opportunity to race and pursue my dream, but I sure would like another shot at Gold. Let’s see what happens. Thanks for believing in me and supporting me the past months. I couldn’t ask for better friends or supporters as I raced towards my dream. I’ll keep ya posted. We’ll know more this weekend. Ciao from Italy,CKRailing a heelside last weekend at Kreischberg, Austria FIS World Cup PGS. Photo courtesy of Oliver Kraus.
