New Zealand Camp 2008
Posted by admin on / 0 Comments
Hi from New Zealand! Camp is going great down here. I’m having a lot of fun and training hard. It feels great to be back on snow again. We’ve been riding at Cardrona mostly. The snow’s been good. We’re on-snow each morning at seven am. The sunrise driving up to the hill each morning is epic. I’m feeling good on my new boards – getting things dialed for the season ahead.
I took a break from the snow the past two days and went surfing with my teammates on the South Island. The water was cold and the surf was big. We saw some cool sea life and caught some nice waves. The scenery was unbelievable. Last night we sat and watched the yellow eyed penguins for an hour as the sun set over the coast. We all went to the Otago Highlanders Rugby game against Hawkes Bay Friday night. It was a super fun trip. We road-tripped home last night in time for an early morning session at Cardrona this morning. The sunrise was an unreal red, which I’m told means nasty weather ahead. We got a good giant slalom session in this morning, but it’s looking iffy for tomorrow. We are going to do some training with the German team this week as well. Hopefully the good weather will return mid week. Enjoy the pics from our coast trip. I’m training the next week on my snowboard, then headed north to surf for a week before returning home. Have a fun Labor Day Weekend! Thanks for checking in!
