Cypress World Cup Cancelled

Due to poor snow conditions last Sunday the Cypress, Canada FIS World Cup was cancelled. After training hard the past weeks and overcoming a back injury from a crash in Korea I was fired up to race again. Unfortunately I’ll have to wait ‘till Quebec for our next World Cup start this weekend. I was looking forward to racing on the 2010 Olympic venue. I did get a chance to train on the hill the past two days and loved it. Hopefully Cypress and VANOC will have their acts together a year from now for the Olympic snowboarding events. I’m disappointed in the poor planning by FIS and the lack of preparation by Cypress and VANOC. I think it was just too ambitions of a plan to host a World Cup Boardercross and a PGS on the same slope with such a tight turnaround. Hopefully everyone can learn from it and improve the events for next year. I’m traveling to Quebec for our next World Cup at Stoneham on Sunday. There is talk about trying to make-up the Cypress race either at Stoneham next Monday or possibly at Sunday River, Maine next week. I’m keeping my fingers crossed we don’t lose the Cypress start all together. I’ll keep you posted. My family joined me in Vancouver to cheer me on and check out the city. While they didn’t get to see any racing action, they had fun exploring Vancouver. Vancouver is a rad city, super pedestrian friendly. I enjoyed touring the city on foot with Missy and my family. I hope I will be back here in a year to do it again. Enjoy the photos. Talk to you soon,CK
