Climbing North Maroon Peak
Posted by admin on / 0 Comments
I climbed North Maroon Peak above Maroon Lake on Friday with my friend Bob Wade. It was a bit windy on top and a cold, early morning start, but otherwise a fun September climb with a good buddy. North Maroon is a 14,014 foot peak in the Elk Mountain Range above my home in Aspen, CO. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to do the traverse from North Maroon to South, next summer for sure. The colors are just starting to change up high. It should be beautiful in the weeks ahead.
This morning I participated in the NKF of Wisconsin 2010 Kidney Walk outside Milwaukee. I started the race with the famous Dottie the Donor Dot. This afternoon I spoke at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee, WI sharing my transplant and snowboarding experiences at the 11th Annual Patient Picnic. I enjoyed meeting many fellow recipients and transplant friends and sharing some of my favorite stories. It was a perfect sunny day. This evening I went waterskiing with my friends Lori and Jim.
I’m traveling to Oregon tomorrow to visit Missy’s family. We’re heading to the OR Coast for a few days later this week. I’m speaking Tuesday to the DEFEAT Cancer group at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon. It’s open to the public. Come join me if you’re in the area. Enjoy the rest of summer. Thanks for checking in.
