Celebrate Saturn’s National Donor Day 2005

Posted by admin on February 17, 2005 10:30 am / 0 Comments

Saturn’s National Donor Day 2005, the largest single-day donor drive across America was a huge success. I was proud to host our own local Donor Day Aspen event at the Gondola Plaza downtown Aspen. I was joined by my family, and about twenty members of the Aspen High School Outreach Society who helped me in spreading the message of donor awareness. I want to thank everyone that participated and helped to make the event possible, especially our donor family friends Bob, Ruth, Karen and Joe, who displayed tremendous courage to be with us. You are heroes in my mind. I’m here today because a donor family just like you shared their decision. For all recipients, I thank you! I hope all of you enjoyed a great Valentine’s Day and took a moment to share your wishes on donation with a loved one. Give blood, sign your license, register on-line to be a donor; you can help make a diference for many.I have been traveling the country the past week visiting Saturn Retailers and recognizing the great job their doing with their donor day events. I visited Saturn of Santa Rosa, CA last week for a hugely successful blood drive and donor awareness event there. Monday I was in Indianapolis sharing the donor awareness message. David Woods from The Indianapolis Star wrote a great article about my visit. Check it out at www.Indystar.com. Tuesday I attended a blood drive and book signing amidst a collection of classic cars at GM headquarters at the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit. I’m proud to act as the Spokesperson for Saturn’s National Donor Day. Thank you to everyone that participated and helped spread this life-saving message. The need is great!I’m healing fast from my broken collarbone two weeks ago at X-Games Nine in Aspen. I’ve been staying busy doing physical therapy every day and snow-shoeing up Buttermilk with my buddies. My shoulder is healing rapidly and I’m hoping to be back on my board in a few weeks. I’m really sad not to be out on tour doing what I love, but I’ll be back faster than ever. For the time being I’m staying busy getting healthy and pursing another passion, helping to share the message of donor awareness. Thanks for your support! Enjoy the shots below.CK
