To The Edge And Back

Enjoy the Ride, Don't Take A Turn For Granted

Back-to-Back National Championships

That’s the way to end the season! It was another great day of racing at Sunshine Village, Banff, Alberta at the combined US/Canadian Nationals Parallel Slalom Finals. It was another long day of racing, but the final looked the same. Canadian Jacey Jay Anderson and I went head-to-head again in the slalom final, a rematch of the previous day’s PGS finale. We had a tight race going half way down the course on the first run of the two run showdown. With a slight lead, I got a little greedy and went too straight coming into a difficult section in the middle of the course and got ejected out of the rut and off course, taking the penalty going into the second run. I felt fast and was there to win, so I took full risk and went for it. Unfortunately my timing was a little off where I chose to ride a straighter line and my impatience caught up to me. Perhaps against a younger, less experienced rider, if you’re on fire you may be able to overcome the deficit, but against Jacey it’s challenging. He’s a strong rider; I enjoyed competing together the past days. That’s what it’s all about. I had so much fun racing the past two days. I’m excited to end the competiton season with two solid performances and two more National Titles. That’s eight professional US Championships, and eleven including junior and men’s amateur titles. Thanks for all your support this winter. It has been a lot of fun. I’ll be back next year!
