To The Edge And Back

Enjoy the Ride, Don't Take A Turn For Granted

New Site is Live!

I hope you like the new site! We’re still tweaking a few things. Let me know what you think. Special thanks to my friend Jerry Willis at Roaring Media for all his hard work.

I returned home tonight from Oregon. I was there the past week testing equipment on snow and training. I rode on the Palmer Snowfield on Mt. Hood early each morning and kiteboarded every afternoon; It was the best of both worlds. There’s still tons of snow at Hood. I was able to ride right to the parking lot. The snow was rock hard last Thursday, perfect for testing boards. It felt great to be back on-snow. My physical training this summer is paying off. I felt strong and agile on my board. The adjustments my trainer Bill Fabrocini made to my workouts this spring/summer are making a big difference. Yesterday morning the clouds engulfed the Magic Mile chairlift on the way up. I emerged out of the clouds on the chairlift near the top to a sunny beautiful day of riding. It was spectacular. What a beautiful morning. Just Mt. Jefferson was sticking out of the clouds in the distance. I snuck one more kiting session in yesterday before jumping on the plane back to Aspen. I’m fried after kiting and snowboarding every day for five days in a row. It was productive testing and training and a fun time.

I attended my fourth Transplant Games in Pittsburgh, PA two weeks ago. I think it was the best Games yet. It is such a powerful event. I was proud to be a part of it and have the opportunity to speak at the Opening Ceremonies and support fellow recipient athletes and donor families. I look forward to the next Games in Madison, WI in 2010.

Today is my eighth anniversary since my liver transplant. Hard to believe it has already been eight years ago. Eight years ago I was just coming out of surgery with a new Type. I’m happy to still be here and look forward to more great years ahead. I celebrated my liver day with my family this morning in Aspen.

I’m in Aspen training and working hard the next few weeks, getting ready for training camp in New Zealand in August. Thanks for checking out the new site. Talk to you soon,

CK
