To The Edge And Back

Enjoy the Ride, Don't Take A Turn For Granted

Landgraaf Slalom World Cup Oct. 10th

Posted by admin on October 6, 2008 1:33 pm / 0 Comments

I’ve been training the past days in Landgraaf, Netherlands for our Slalom World Cup Opener here Oct. 10th. We are racing an indoor slalom in one of the flattest and lowest countries in the world. I prefer to ride outside, but it’s fun once a season. I’ve been training in the frozen meat locker the past days getting ready. It still feels like I’m riding at the roller rink here, putting on my snowboard to make a few laps. I’ve never seen so many people on a hill like today; it looked like an anthill. I’m having good training, getting my new Kessler boards dialed in and ready to rule it. I’m excited to start another World Cup season, my eighteenth. I’ve worked hard this summer and am ready! I’m excited for the winter ahead. I had great dry-land training the past week in Aspen. I hooked up with my friend Casey Puckett for a few workouts last week. I’m looking forward to training hard together when I return home again.Missy and I had a fun road-trip home to Aspen from Oregon. We stopped in North Eastern Oregon to visit her brother and family. We did a cool hike together up Ruby Peak in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. I didn’t realize how spectacular the mountains were there. I hope to get back there one day in the spring to do some mountaineering and backcountry riding. Looks like sweet split-boarding terrain. I followed our hike with a refreshing dip in freezing Lake Wallowa.I teamed up with my friend and fellow transplant recipient Bryan Myss a few weeks ago in Portland, Oregon for CKF organ donor awareness and wakeboard demo event. Together we visited patients at OHSU hospital and then wakeboarded on the Willamette with transplant friends and their families. It was a fun event that I hope will continue to grow. Some of the Northwest Riders Pro’s joined us and showed us how it’s done. It was impressive. Not sure my body can handle those landings.I’m training hard this week in Landgraaf, getting ready to ride fast Oct. 10th. Enjoy the fall season. Check out the fall colors from a recent Sunnyside mountain bike ride above Aspen. Thanks for checking in! I’ll keep ya posted,CK
