Missy and I and our friend Jon rode the Elephant Rock Ride in Castle Rock, CO on June 6th. It was an awesome ride. I’ve been spending a lot of time on my bikes the past weeks. I raced my second Aspen Cycling Club event last night in Snowmass. This time it was a mountain bike circuit race at Two Creeks. After getting spanked on the final climb a week ago on my road bike, I was determined to redeem myself. I finished second last night. I bombed the downhill and climbed strong to find the podium. It was a lot of fun. I’m headed to Twin Lakes tomorrow for a long ride with my friends. Next week’s Cycling Club race is from Basalt to Norrie, past Reudi Resevoir and then back along the Frying Pan River. It’s a sixty plus miler. Should be a good test and training session.
Last weekend I was in Beverly Hills, CA for the Donate Life Hollywood Film Fest and Inspiring Person Awards. While I didn’t win, I was proud to be nominated and included in the festival. Congrats to Alex O’loughlin on winning. I was in Vegas this week to share my story and message with Astellas at their National Sales Conference. I appreciated the opportunity to thank Astellas for creating great therapies and for their support. I’m proud to team up with Astellas to help others going through the transplant process. It was 100 degrees in Vegas. I made my contribution to the Mandalay Bay Hotel on the blackjack table. It went fast. Isn’t that why they call it gambling?
This weekend is Food & Wine in Aspen. Our town is abuzz with activity again as locals and visitors return for summer. I hiked the Ute Trail tonight. I never get tired of the view from the top. Sitting on the rocks at the viewpoint overlooking Aspen is one of my favorite places. Everything is green again and the trails are in good shape. Join CKF June 29th at the Aspen Club & Spa for the first Tuesday’s w/ Michael event of the summer at 5:00 pm on the Aspen Club deck. I hope to see you there for live music, snacks and drinks.
