To The Edge And Back

Enjoy the Ride, Don't Take A Turn For Granted

Climbing Grizzly Peak 13,994 ft.

Posted by admin on June 20, 2004 10:54 am / 0 Comments

I climbed Grizzly Peak with my friends Steve and Jon this morning. Grizzly is located up Independence Pass, and is Colorado’s highest 13,000 foot peak, just feet below the 14,000 ft. mark. The trailhead starts near Grizzly Resevoir, about seven miles up Lincoln Creek road. It was a brutal 4:00 a.m. wake-up this morning, but well worth it. It was quite the haul to the top, I was sucking wind a little. Not a ton of snow left, but we found enough to make some turns from the top. I convinced Steve and Jon to pack the skis and boards. It was a great work-out and an epic view. I haven’t stopped eating since I got back. I was a little spent. Enjoy the pics from our climb and descent. I’m lovin’ hanging at home in Aspen these days, training and playing with my friends. I’ve been spending a lot of time on my bikes, on the tennis court, and in the skatepark. I am off to Connecticut this week for my brother’s wedding. Should be a good party. I’m looking forward to returning home to Aspen for the 4th before heading out to Oregon to begin training there. Hope you’re off to a great summer start. Thanks for checkin’ in. Play hard!CK
