To The Edge And Back

Enjoy the Ride, Don't Take A Turn For Granted

2010 National Slalom Champion

I wrapped up the Snowboard World Cup competition season in La Molina, Spain last Sunday on a difficult hill in challenging spring-like conditions. I had an ok first qualifying run and a great second run going as I attacked the steeps on the upper part of the course. I ran too direct and aggressive of a line coming onto the flats on my second run and crashed before the finish. I was hoping for a stronger finish at World Cup Finals, but that’s racing sometimes. I’d rather go for it and not finish than ride careful and watch the finals. There’s no worse feeling than knowing you left something in the tank. I was disappointed with my first run and knew I could do better, so I stepped on the gas in the second run. With big holes in the course and bumpy, inconsistent spring snow conditions it maybe wasn’t the easiest course for stepping on the gas. I’m still stoked I went for it. It was fun to say goodbye to my World Cup racing family.

I’m back home in Aspen. It dumped last night, so heading out on the mountain on my freeride board for some spring pow. I’m traveling to Steamboat this eve to ride there tomorrow and get ready for Nationals Friday and Saturday, my final races of the season. I’m excited for one more starting gate this weekend; I want to finish the season strong. After a long winter on the road, I’m looking forward to hosting my10th Annual Aspen Spring Snowboard Camp 2010 next weekend, and then getting in the high country for some spring mountaineering and riding. Happy Spring! Enjoy!
