Donor Dash 2009

Last weekend I ran the Donor Dash at Washington Park in Denver with my family and friends to promote organ and tissue donation. It was an awesome event. I ran the 5K fun run. I started a little fast, running the first mile in under six minutes, but had to shut it down the next two miles, so I didn’t blow up. I made it to the finish line. CKF hosted a booth at the event handing out of Donor Dudes schwag and donation info.
I participated in the Aspen Dancing with the Stars gala last Wednesday at the Hotel Jerome. The event helped raise funds for the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet program. I danced the Samba with my friend Samantha. It was comedy. My cheeks hurt I was laughing so hard. The polyester sequin shirt I was rockin’ was so tight I could hardly breath. My partner was looking pretty good, so my job was easy. We trained for almost two weeks with Tony and Veronika, a professional ballroom dancing team from Salt Lake City. They were super cool. You should see them dance. They taught me a few sweet moves. I’m stoked I did the event – it was a lot of fun. That’s how pro snowboarders train in the off-season to get ready for the winter.
When not dancing, I’ve been training and working hard the past weeks. Selling real estate and working out are keeping me busy. I’ve been spending a lot of time at the Aspen Club and on my bikes. Fortunately I’ve had some good training partners to push me. Casey Puckett and I have had a few good training sessions together. I had a sick climb on my mtn bike last weekend to the top of Warren Lakes above Aspen. This weekend I’m planning to ride my mountain bike to Crested Butte with some friends.
Yesterday I celebrated my ninth anniversary since my liver transplant with a fun dinner with my friends and family in Aspen. I’m still going strong and stoked to be here. Thanks to my donor and his family for my second chance and to everyone that helps keep me going! I marked my anniversary with a fun day of stand up paddle boarding on North Star Preserve above Aspen with my friend Lucas in-between violent afternoon storms. Fortunately we didn’t get hailed on while paddling.
I’m traveling to Australia in August to support the World Transplant Games in Brisbane and of course do a little kiting and surfing while there. I’m looking forward to traveling Down Under for the first time. Enjoy your summer! I’ll keep ya posted on summer training and fun! Thanks for checking in.
