To The Edge And Back

Enjoy the Ride, Don't Take A Turn For Granted

Quebec 2005 World Cup Weekend!

Posted by admin on December 16, 2005 9:51 am / 0 Comments

It has been a great week of training for me here in Quebec, Canada. After a few weeks of pow riding at home in Aspen and a great week of training here, I’m ready for this weekend’s back-to-back World Cups at le Relais, outside Quebec City. I’m feeling good. I’ve worked hard. Now it’s time to go out, trust my preparation and training and have fun. I know I can do it. No one is more ready than I. I’m confident that if I ride like I know how to this weekend, remember the things I’ve been working on, and have fun I’ll be hard to beat. You’ve got to not let your head get in the way of your riding, put it on auto-pilot and enjoy the ride. That’s my plan. It’s dumping here now. I made a few runs this morning, making sure my gear was perfect. I love the hill. It’s a medium pitch run, one of the longer courses of the year, very similar to the Olympic hill in Bardonecchia, Italy. Finally I get to use my fitness advantage. The snow is a little different than in Colordo. It looks like that grippy, hero snow, but it’s a little slicker, classic East Coast high humidity man-made. You can’t come into the turn Euro carving and expect the edge to hold. It’s important to keep the board under your feet and maintain that clean early pressure top to bottom. There’s a few slick spots. Things could change a lot with a foot of fresh snow. We’ll see what we wake up to? Fortunately, Tom Renierth from Dominator Waxis here with us helping make sure we’ve got fast boards. We’re lucky to have him. It just might make the difference on this hill. I’m looking forward to some good racing this weekend. Thanks for checking in and cheering me on. The vieux ville de Qubec is cool. We’re staying right downtown. I’ve enjoyed walking around and checking it out. Enjoy the shots. Merry Christmas.
