Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed a great holiday! Missy and I had an awesome time in Pasadena, CA participating in the Rose Parade atop The Coalition on Donation’s ‘Symphony of Life’ Donor Float. What an experience! I’ve never seen so many people in my life. They were lined up the day before. It was out of control that night walking back to our hotel from Old Town Pasadena following our New Year’s Dinner. Being a part of the Coalition on Donation float really was a treat! I think we made a difference too! So many people were touched by our life-saving message! I sure was proud to be there! I was joined by twenty-two donor families and recipients, including Dep. Surgeon General Ken Moritsugu. He’s a great champ of donor awareness.Following the Rose Parade I attended the Rose Bowl with Missy and team Saturn National Donor Day. It was so cool; fun to see the home team win the ‘National Championship.’ The place erupted with applause, fireworks, and confetti when they won it! The Trojan’s ruled it. It was cool to be there and witness it all!On a racing front, 2004 didn’t quite start as I hoped. I began the year racing in Diesel Jeans and softies. My luggage got lost by United yesterday en route from LAX to Burlington. I was racing today in the second King of the Mtn. in Killington, Vermont, but didn’t get my gear. It was pretty disappointing. I’m riding fast, and knew I could do well, but it’s pretty hard without your equipment. The only high point of my VT trip was visiting with my friends the Parker’s and seeing Betsy Shaw and her family, and eating famous Ben & Jerry’s ice cream from Vermont. Oh well, I’ll just go to Europe now and find the podium. Hopefully I won’t have to race in blue jeans over there! It will certainly make for another good story in the book! I’m racing a World Cup Slalom in Bad Gastein, Austria on 6th and then heading to L’alpe d’huez, FR for two PGS races. Happy New Year! I hope it’s a great year ahead for you! Enjoy the Rose Parade and Bowl photos.
