To The Edge And Back

Enjoy the Ride, Don't Take A Turn For Granted

Whistler FIS World Cup 2003

It wasn’t the day I was hoping for, but it was a good one for our team. I was riding well and confident I could climb onto the podium yesterday, but I made a costly mistake on my second run against Italian Racer Walter Feichter, with a big lead going into the middle of the course after winning the first run, and got bumped in the first round. I really like the Whistler hill and wanted a beter outcome. It’ll have to come tomorrow in Telluride at the Jeep King of the Mountain opener. Our team did well overall yesterday! Adam Smith finished seventh, Rosey Fletcher came in eighth, Stacia Hookem was thirteenth, and Michelle claimed her first World Cup podium of her career! It was a thrill seeing her accomplish that. Way to go Michelle! Michelle and I sat down the day before the race and both set personal performance goals. Her’s were to make two finals in the next two World Cup PGS’s and to podium at the Park City Grand Prix. I’d say she’s on her way!I’m traveling to Telluride, Colorado today to compete in the King of the Mtn. tomorrow. I really enjoyed competing on this tour last year and am looking forward to another great tour this winter. The ‘Y Zone’ format has changed a little; it sould be interesting checking out the new course layout. It’s essentially PGS with terrain, but the two parallel courses merge into one after about six PGS gates, transitioning into more like boardercross with two riders. Should be exciting, and hopefully not too deadly! I’ll keep ya posted and hopfully get some photos to post! Thanks for checking in! Busy week coming up with King of the Mtn. tomorrow, Park City Grand Prix Parallel Giant Slalom on Wednsday, and Stoneham, Quebec World Cup Parallel Giant Slalom next Sunday. I’ll be criss-crossing the Country a little this week in search of podiums! Rip it up!CK
